What is NEDC EV testing? Detailed discussion

NEDC was a standardized test for EV cars introduced in 1980s to 1990s, NEDC test Cycle Duration is 20 minutes with Speed Range of Up to 120 km/h. This testing uses two Cycle Structures:

Urban Driving Cycle: low-speed, stop-and-go city driving with an average speed of 18.35 km/h and a maximum speed of 50 km/h.

Extra-Urban Driving Cycle: higher-speed driving on open roads, with an average speed of 62.6 km/h and a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

In NEDC vehicle is tested at a temperature of 20–30°C (68–86°F).

Recently the NEDC was replaced by WLTP, which includes: Longer test duration and more dynamic driving patterns.
